Come and learn some new skills with me - I teach traditional techniques to small groups, starting with a fresh cut log and ending up with a beautiful item for your home that’s made with your own hands.
The courses are great for beginners or experienced makers alike, with a focus on building simple skills. Tools and materials are provided. Fun will most surely be had.

The very first chairmaking class to be held at my brand new timber framed workshop in the quiet village of Middleton at the foot of the Peak District.
Over six days you’ll split & shape green timber into legs, spindles and stretchers, carve your seat and arms for comfort, steam bend the backrest and add turned accents using a foot-powered lathe before assembling your parts into an heirloom quality armchair you’ll be proud of for years to come.
All tools and materials are provided. A delicious vegetarian lunch will be served each day.
Monday 21st - Saturday 26th September 2026, 9:30am-5pm each day.
A very enjoyable course with a great stool to take away at the end and some new friends. I had a great couple of days learning about the chair making process. My friends and family couldn’t believe I’d made it!
